08.5 Benz CRD for the Ram?
08.5 Benz CRD for the Ram?
I went by a dealer today to take a good look at the new 6.7 just as a visual. Nice size turbo (rumored to be able to produce near 600hp). But I was checking out this new EGR system and the manifold being used. There was only a coulf of fleet trucks there that were already purchased so I could not access them. I am wondering if the manifold in
any way resembles the 5.9?
Also the saleman told me that it could be a early as 2008.5 when the new CRD Benz engine will start going in the trucks, anyone have any info on this?

No I am in fact talking about the 2500/3500 trucks. I talked to some guys at SEMA who told me that it would be at least 2010 before the change was made. It is going to happen, the Sprinter vans first and now the Jeep Grand Cherokee with the 3.0 Bluetec...
Yeah my uncles brothers cousin told me ford owns cummings!!
Actually, the 6.7L Cummins is 2010 emissions compliant and won't be going anywhere.... and in case you didn't know or your salesman didn't tell you, Cummins will be supplying a V-6 and V-8 to put into the Durango and the Ram 1500....
Anytime I go to the dealer I completely ignore everything they say. Last summer I was at the Dodge dealer looking at a 99 24V 5 spd and the salesmen tried to tell me that a diesel with a stick shift was extremely rare. I then asked him if the engine was a V8, when he said yes I got in my truck and drove off.

It won't happen, both companies are way to integrated to each other. This whole idea is nothing more than a negotiating scheme to get the unions to concede to a lesser contract.
Let's say Cummins produces 50,000 6.7's for DC at a generous $4000 each. That's $20 Million! Does it make a little more sense now? If you need another reason you can use the fact that the ISB is not used exclusively for our trucks. They are in agricultural equipment, marine equipment, and a myriad of other pieces of equipment all over the world. Cummins is very diverse in their engine business and while DC may be one of their big customers they certainly have others. Besides, how many of us would be running to get our hands one a new, unproven MB diesel anyway? Are we as silly as all those Ford guys who are lining up to get a piece of the 6.4 nightmare?
This is so dumb, I get so sick and tired of getting sucked into these posts. People have been speculating that Dodge is going away from Cummins since about 1990, ENOUGH ALL READY!!!!!!!!!!!!! That would be the stupidist possible thing Dodge could do, and it is not going to happen.
