07 Quad Cab 4x4 5.9 Cummins 6 speed manual fuel milage?

I know this has probally been discussed to death. This is my first post.

I am looking at a 07 quad cab 4x4 with the 5.9 CUMMINS with the 6 speed manual trans. 373 rear end.

What kind of fuel milage can I expect in the city and on the highway with this setup?

What are you guys getting? The truck is stock at this point. (brand new)

Thanks! Great site!

First thing you need to do is learn how to spell CUMMINS.................

I understand the "lemme" part. Sorry to sound a little gruff but I hate it when I see that.....
I edited your title too. Thanks..........

You can do a search on "mileage" too. May get you some quick results.

Welcome,

I have pretty much the same truck but with 2006 on the title. It just turned over 10K miles and the mileage has steadily improved to around 17-18 MPG highway (cruise control set @ 70) and around 14-15 MPG around town. Be aware that the G56 tranny does not have as tall an OD ratio as the older NV5600, so I run about 5 MPH slower than I did with my Ford 7.3 6 speed at the same RPM.

I recently towed a 2500 gal water tank about 200 miles for a friend (light weight, but pushed a lot of air) and averaged 15.5 MPG for the trip (loaded trailer up, empty trailer back and some running around totaled about 500 miles for the whole trip. About 1/3 of the distance was on twisty mountain roads at 25-35 MPH. They say the CTD takes 15K+ to fully break in get max mileage.

I'm happy so far, lots of pulling power when towing but I do keep reaching for 7th gear when running empty on the freeway

Mileage on these Cummins are going to be all over the place. I get 19+ on trips, and average 16.5-18.5 combined town/highway. I only have 6k on the truck. I've noticed a difference in mileage depending on the fuel additive I run as well.

I have got less then 2k miles on mine (same truck) 16.5 to 18.5 on average. But to do this kind of average I figure Im getting low 20s on the hwy but I have yet to verify this. The overhead btw shows some pretty good hwy numbers after reset, over 26mpg.

My overhead is consistantly 4-6 mpg off since I added the SC the mileage I posted was hand calculated. Be sure and check it both ways. It has 16,000mi on it and has been fairly consistant. I drove from Jordan Valley Oregon to SLC last weekend and about 522miles and drove between 75 and 80 the whole way and averaged 14.6.

I get 20-22 on highway @58 mph and 18-20@68mph and 15-16@75mph and 18 in town, mine is a DRW 4x4, with about 11K on it now. I get 15 towing my 28' enclosed car trailer 11,000 LBS loaded with car and gear.

My overhead is consistently off by +2.5 mpg. As big of a spread in the numbers these kinds of threads typically generate I think it all depends on the truck. Some are just made perfect from the factory and get really good mileage easily. And the driver - some guys can keep their foot out of it and some can't. If you get 18mpg out of a stock truck be happy with that and consider yourself very lucky.

I have an 07 same as quote above. These mpg's are with a gear vendors overdrive. At 65 I was getting 16.5 without GV, on it would jump to 20. 70 mph was 14.6 without and 18.8 GV on. 75 I get around 17. I tow 16,000 I get 10-11mpg max. I dont see 15mpg towing 11,000lbs. This is a dually. Expect 1 to maybe 1.5mpg better.
