"so I had to put some jb weld on the pin holes "
Jb Weld. What a miracle elixer. I've repaired more equipment through the years with JB. "If you can't repair it with JB Weld. You don't need it...."

When I noticed my pan starting to rust I used a wire brush in a matabo angle grinder. Getting as much of the rust as possible then used break clean to sort of de-grease it then followed the directions on the POR15 can and so far so good....HTH

So my jb weld repair has held, but the pan started leaking through a spot on the pan behind the cross member that I can't get into to clean it up. The flange is also looking very rusted so it looks like I am going to have to replace the pan. Stopped in to my local mechanic and ask about the job. He looked it up and said you have to remove the tranny???? Not sure about this and neither was he because he had never done one. I've read that it can be done by lifting the engine as much as possible and removing the dipstick. Has anyone done this and how hard is it to do? I found a pan on rock auto for $220 wonder if it is any good

That's the question on the RockAuto pan. The description sounds good. I just did mine for the 2nd time. I'm five miles from the ocean here but my friend up the street with an '07 doesn't have any rust.

I've been thinking of making something similar (copy) the OEM tool they use to lift the engine from the top end. Wondering if anyone has a picture of this tool installed. Curious where it supports itself on the sides of the engine, only guessing its somewhere on the top side of the wheel wells?

Funny enough, a friend just called me yesterday madder than a hornet that he walked out to his garage to find a pool of oil under his 2008 Grand Cherokee- caused by rust holes in his oil pan.....

I've been under my truck with POR-15 for the last month and was thinking about doing the oil pan- no bubbles, but it's got some rust colored spots.

Between his phone call and then seeing this thread this morning, I think the universe is telling me I need to POR-15 my oil pan this weekend.

Replaced my pan this past Spring. The pan had one large crack in it that was bleeding really badly. The shop that did the job spent hours and hours working on it. After it was all said and done they will never do it by the flat rate time again.
