Wix Air Filter...is it me or ???

Is it me or do the Wix Airfilters last longer the then Fleetgaurd Filters?

I installed a Napa Gold/Wix (Part #42846) airfilter in my truck a few months back and my filter minder has barely moved. I checked for air leaks and switched filter minders with my buddy. Everything seems good.
I would have to replace my Fleetgaurd filter every 3-4 months. I have to wonder if it's filtering as well as the fleetgaurd or if it's just built better.

I think you are right, I have 30K on my truck and just 5K miles ago I changed to wix and now my minder does not move and with stock it was in the red all the time.

I have been using Napa Gold 2846 (Wix) filters for almost 70,000 miles. I usually change every 15,000 but I have gone over 20,000 without the filter minder moving. They are rated at 675cfm.

In the Dmax filter test that's posted on different sites, wix filters was one of the worst (paper filter) for letting dirt through, that would account for a longer life. Also for my self anyway, the Fleetguard cost me $6, napa filter $35. No contest.

the filter minder is not the way to judge filter quality or when it needs to be changed. i've seen the original mopar filter completely black and filthy in bad need of changing and the f/m had'nt moved while the day after i put a clean filter in my aem intake the f/m is sucked down. with performance intakes and filters the f/m gets pulled down quickly and easily due to the venturi effect and not because of airflow restriction.

Wix filter has much longer pleats than the baldwins I was using before. Brand new baldwin would suck down the filter minder 30 to 40 percent. My Wix has been in there awhile, and is now just starting to suck down.

I'm all about the Wix

Yea...where are you getting Fleetgaurd filters for $6!!!!!
I get the wix filter for about $14-16 online. Napa will charge you about $26 for the same filter.

The best thing to of done is an oil analysis using the stock filter for 5,000 miles and then change the oil and run the Wix for 5,000 miles following both with an oil analysis. Comparing the 2 you could see exactly how much dirt was passing through because it will end up in your oil..........I would use the fleetguard if I still had my stock box.

Local Cummins dealer is where I buy my filters. I about died when I bought my first and only filter from the local Napa dealer for $35. There is a huge markup on filters, and they can be sold cheap if the dealers would choose to do so. I put an amsoil in this last time to try and its starting to pull the indicator in after only about 5k miles. About the same as the Fleetguards I was running.

My local Cummins dealer's parts guys are...........less than friendly when you start asking questions that contain the word Dodge. Would you mind posting the part numbers, please?

This is the key reason they last longer. They do not filter as well.
