Will "newer" turbo fit/work on 03'?
I have heard or read that the 04' turbo will help with my EGT's.
Is the 04 turbo the only newer turbo that will work without issue on my 03?
When looking at places like HTT, they show the same turbo from 03-07. I am new to the 3rd Gen and I don't know what electronics if any are present on the newer trucks.
So in a nut shell, what year turbos will bolt on without issue of turbo control or electronics if present and lower my EGT's. Of course HP increase won't be bad either.

An early 04 turbo is the same as yours. What you need is a turbo from a 600 series engine which would be an 04.5 -07 truck with a 5.9 CTD in it. (The 07.5 trucks have the 6.7l engine)
I have an 05 turbo on my truck and that, along with the larger elbow and downpipe from the 05 truck really makes a difference. There are a couple mods you will have to do if you want more boost out of that turbo though...
As far as the aftermarket turbos go, yes the HTT ones are the same for 03-07 trucks. The 04.5 trucks just require a special resistor for the electronic wastegate plug. You would not have to worry about that though....

You want the turbo from the 325 hp 5.9 engines - 04.5 or later (not from an early 04) and they have a wastegate that's not compatible but it can be modded to work. Guys claim ~50 hp, bolt-on and I believe it - my A2K alone really woke up mine. There's been recent threads on the mod but I don't know which search words to use to find the right thread. Maybe try searching on he351. Craig

Are all HE351 turbos the same?
The reason I ask, is that doing a search on HE351, I find them for sale in various places that have nothing to do with diesel trucks. Like import sites.

Import guys are running our turbos too. You want an HE351 but not the HE351VGT that comes on the 6.7l truck. It can be made to work but it is a lot of work for little gains, but it sounds cool.

MikeyB, I bought mine used about 3 yrs ago and it's one of the last 3rd gen A2Ks. About a yr after I got it, ATS told me they improved the A3k so much that it spooled as fast as the A2k so I think they stopped making the A2k all together. I love my A2k, it's perfect for my mods and towing. Craig
