Better bring your truck back. I pulled a 35 foot triple axle gooseneck with a JD 4020 on it at 50 mph. Got about 15 mpg. I get 22 mpg driving 70 with nol load. I have 4.10 gears.

I'm going to second what DeereNut had to say, although my mileage isn't as good as his. My 03 6 speed has much more power than my 01 did as a stock unit, or even my 01 with an EZ. I haven't had the chance to hook to 30K yet, but the 15K loads I've yarded along were just great. The 03 is easily the best truck I've ever owned.

Rod

Dodgeclown,
I do not mean to offend you but you have posted many times on your lack of power problem. Continuing to post on these forums is not going to fix your truck. Get it back to the dealer and have them either fix it or give you a new truck. Your posting of only the problem and none as to the remedy is beginning to raise some doubt as to the validity of your claim. I wish you luck in resolving the problem.
P.S. I just read one of your latest posts under a different topic and see where DC is installing a new motor. Let us all know how it turns out. Don't let up until they make it right. Keep the faith!

If you have had it in for three attempts for the same problem and it is still not fixed, you should start screaming LEMON LAW! BUY BACK! > ???

Jonesey is exactly right. In most states they have three attempts to fix it and they are out. The key is to get them to write a ticket on it each time you bring it in. They won't bring up the Lemon Law but you should. Read the Lemon Law booklet in your Glove Box and research the net. Loads of information. Make them buy the truck back and then order you another. They will charge you mileage for what you have driven and give all back including sales tax.

Re:Why is the 03 down on power?
Do what math??? You say 48 mph 500 miles 7 mpg... What equation did you use? I don't understand your numbers at all... ??? If you used 35 gallons for 500 miles then you're at 14 mpg. I assume you don't have an extra fuel tank, so I figured that at 500miles/35 gallons of fuel = 14.28 mpg

Take the miles you drove, divide by the amount of gas used for the distance you drove (and that's your mpg... I don't know what yer smokin' but quit bogartin' it and pass it on!

And the funny thing is he probably didn't even get close to the 35 gallons because if he towed at 48 mph he would have gotten probably more than 16 or 17 or more mpg. I knew the guy was a flamer but I never spent the time really cataloging his responses.

Hey by the way, mine is right at 21 mpg now (5000 miles) at 70 and pulls my 8000 pound fiver fantastic! I can just feel it on acceleration and the only difference while cruising 70 is on a hill you just barely hear the turbo come up a little. If I wanted, I'm sure it would run 100 mph towing. This is the best truck I've ever owned. That is why we draw flamers!
