Who pays for TSB
Who pays for TSB
I took my truck in to the dealer to have some work done on it. I told them I wanted a TSB done on it (Full Disable of 4th Gear Overdrive When in Tow/Haul Mode #21-006-07) Who picks up the tab for this?
So is it 3yr/36 or 8yr/80?????

I've been told various things as well but still haven't got an official answer which it is either. I would think 8yr/80 but want confirmation as well.

I had the 1-2 shift transmission TSB completed and the dealership made me pay for the filter and .5 hrs labor. I had complained about it, heck I brought breakfast for the shop, but for $70.00 the mech adjusted bands, replaced fluid/filter. I like doing all fluid/filter maintance myself but since it was a TSB I had them do it anyway. Brad
Ther is no clear answer to your question. Some TSB's like the one you are after, are not fixing a performance or quality problem. The TSB you want done is to serve a particular need you have. This TSB is very similar to having the high idle enabled in your truck. Those TSB's would be paid for.
Then there are TSB's like the door seal TSB. Those would normally be covered under the 3/36 warranty.
There is a TSB for transmissions that hunt from 1-2 shift. That would be covered under the powertrain warranty. But depending on the year of your truck, that could be 3/36 or 7/70
There are also other TSB's that would be covered under the various other warranties of the 3rd gens- 3/36 B-B, 100k Cummins, Emissions etc.
My point is, don't assume the dealer is going to cover it just because your truck is under warranty. If your problem is a performance or quality issue, and the problem falls under the warranty that applies, then it should be covered by Dodge.

8/80 is emissions warranty for vehicles under emmisions standards.Diesels did not have emissions standards until 07.So to be covered under 8/80-it would have to affect tailpipe emissions, the transmision update does not technically fall under that. Some dealers will do it for you,but they're going to write it up & submit it to chry for another reason. Most diesel flashes are covered under the 5/100 warr, additional work needed outside of 3/36 unless covered by service contract is pretty much customer pay
