Who has the tick?
my 05 engine had a tick in it and i took it to the dealer and they found nothing. i totaled the truck and sold the engine the guy that bought it rebuilt the engine and found that the cam was in bad shape and i'm almost 100 % sure that was the issue. i thought it was the cam and was planning on buying and upgraded cam until i totaled the truck
I have the madhat tick too. It lasts for about 5 minutes and then starts to fade QUICKLY,then in an instant, all gone! It only does it when it's cold. I'm not too worried about it,no smoke, runs good, starts fast...whats to worry about?
Does it sound like an exhaust manifold leaking by at one of the ports till it gets warm enough to reseal? I'd check for cracks and ensure the bolts are tight (32'# on an '03).
No it doesn't really sound like that. It's def coming from the drivers side, exhaust manifold is on the passenger side. It sounds more ''mechanical" than an exhaust leak.
It's alittle off subject but I work on Chevys all day and deal with alot of dmax engines. 80% of these engines have a tick most noticeable at idle and toward the rear of the engine. What that tick is is the oil mocules bursting causing the sound. Noise is def low and sounds internal but you will never find anything wrong if you tear the motor down. Now I know this is a different beast but could it be possible if this is the same noise? Think about it.
It's normal, It take a while for the CP3 to blead the air out of the system. That is why you have the ticking sound like this. Nothing wrong with the truck.
Mine has more of a chatter than a tick and the sound is a little louder when its cold then once it reaches operating temp it gets quieter s**t I dont know. I think it sounds like the injecters firing but who knows theres no way of telling from what ive been reading.
