Replaced one injector at 30,000 miles. 40,000 miles on it now. No other problems. No vibes. I love this truck!

No problems.

There were a couple of TSB's (transmission line, engine control connector) that got taken care of at the first oil change. It lopes when it's first started and the temperature is low enough to cause it to go into high idle mode, but that doesn't hurt anything and I'm not going to bother with trying to fix it.

The only real complaint I have would be that Ford's seating comfort is better. I can't find a really comfortable place for my feet the way I can in my Ford.

Mine is a 3rd gen, but an 03. Only 8k miles in 2 years. Herein lies my only problem- I dont get to drive it enough. Bessy stays in the barn until we go camping, or I go quad riding, and those trips are getting fewer and further between. Oh, I am still broken up about losing that center cap last year. Now..dont get me started on the Excursion.

The only problem I had with my truck was that after about 10,000 miles the steering wheel wasn't straight anymore (about 5 degrees off to the left). Other than that, engine runs like a top, etc. etc. Currently the truck has 13,000 miles on it, and should have another 7000 on it by early March.

Geez, I must have a bad one....
just over a year old and with 18,500 miles .....
@300 blew a tranny cooler
@7,000 3 ball joints and 2 tie rods
@13,000 T-case leak
@18,000 Steering box went out
@18,050, tranny temp light came on twice in 2 days when it was -30 F??? I put it on a lift to check it out, and noticed the new steering box is leaking! Goes back in next week to get both checked out.

I can't make an underhood light bulb last more than a week.
Infinty stereo sounds like crap.
drivers door panal sqweaks
and a few other odd electrical things, but I could live with them.

Other than that I really love the truck! I talked to my sales person about maybe getting rid of it. After some thougt I figured everyone was having problems so I thought I would stick it out. After this psot maybe I will think about get rid of it!

Mine has 30K and not a single problem. Rough idle that turned out to be bad fuel. I am hard on the truck too. mostly in town driving and some off highway excursions. I love it!!!!

I have 8000 miles on my 04.5 and no problems. Started off with low mileage, did some 7000# towing and the mileage is now between 16-17 in town stop & go driving and about 19 mpg on the highway empty @70mph. Was hoping for around 22-24 mpg empty which is what I was told diesels would get - obviously, this was an exageration.

Last weekend I developed a squeak in the right front when driving on a wash-board road for about 5 miles, but there is no noise on normal roads with an occasional pump. I was able to repeat this squeaking always on the right front whenever I drove on a wash-board road. I also have the torn door seal, but wouldn't have noticed it if it hadn't been discussed on this forum. Haven't decided yet if it's worth being replaced - probably will replace it if I need to take it in for something else.

The old CTDs, especially the 12-valve motors, did get that 22-24 mpg, at least for some and I don't believe it was at 70 mph. Right now I'm getting about 18-20 empty @ 70 (depending on roads), but it's also winter. Once it gets warm again I imagine my mileage will go up roughly 2-4 mpg.

roan, it sounds like you've definitely got a lemon. You should look into getting the thing replaced if possible. Your truck should definitely qualify.

Had another problem this morning, hopefully it will go away... the CD function on my radio isn't working. If it doesn't work when I get in the truck to head home this afternoon I'm going to go to the dealer and ask them to replace it.

Jerry - you got a 4x4 and auto - the two worst things you could have gotten as far as mpg is concerned. The 2wd 6speeds do quite a bit better.

My 04 has 39,000 miles on it. So far I've had a transfer case leak @5000 miles, and that's it. I have a slight ticking noise from the engine when it's below 10F. Other than that, I am very very pleased with this truck, no issues.

My fuel milleage is a little lower than I had expected, but I have the 4:10 gears. I had the computer flash and it did help some.
Other than that it has been great and it pulls my 10,000 travel trailer really good. My father-in-law likes all the extra room he has in the back seat and having his own door.

A few months ago all the 04.5 owners were speaking of terrible mileage with their trucks. So did everyone get the reflash and that helped or has everyone just gotten used to their mileage?

Thanks,

James
