Whinning noise

I have an 06 Dodge 5.9 Cummings with auto tranny with 92,000. I average 10,000 a year towing an 6200 GRW Airstream. I have been hearing a whinning noise when I accelerate at very slow speeds. Its like a 2nd motor running and seems to be linked to the transmission. The transmission was just serviced several thousand miles ago. If there was a problem thd Dodge dealer did not mention it. I just had the pinon bearing in the rear end replaced several weeks ago to the tune of $2500 and 6,000 outside my warranty. I thought the whinning noise was the differential. I still have this whinning noise.

Anyone have and idea's?????

If the truck shifts, does the noise change. Do you think it's the tranny or a wheel bearing?

It's more toward the tranny. It's like a 2nd motor in addition to the engine. Most notable at very slow speed. It is not the wheel bearings.

I have a similar problem. Something in my truck begins to whine at 70 mph. It is either my transmission, transfer case, or rear end. Has been doing it for months now. Mechanics can't diagnose. Just waiting for something to break. Probably rear end.

Not trying to be smart-aleckie here, but have you checked the fluid levels every where you can. I would not depend on the dealership to verify that stuff.
The only oily finger you can really count on, is your own.... But, if you can't check yourself, stand reaaaaaaaaaaaal close to the one checking.

All fluit levels are ok. I especially notice the whine when engine is cold. I only hear it when I accelerate at slow speeds. I can hear it in additon to the engine noise. I really thing it is the tranny.

The tranny fluid was chaned less that a 1000 miles ago. It was making this noise before the fluid change.

I'm getting a little bullet shy with my Dodge but will take it to the dealer to have it checked out.

Mine does the same thing. dealer can't find it. I have looked and looked. one thing that i have done is when in drive and start hearing it, tap down on your shift lever. NOT out of Drive but push down and up on the shift lever. i can also make mine change tone with the tow/haul button. drives me nutty so I turn up the radio.

The noise that I have have is not that loud but it is linked to the tranny in my opinion. I only notice it when I first start my truck and drive it. Later on I do not notice it.
