At what point does stuff start to break?
At what point does stuff start to break?
My '07 is stock, other than some 285/70/17s. I'm considering putting a lift and bigger tires on my truck, but don't want to start breaking/wearing out suspension parts.
I don't want crazy tall, just something along the lines of a 4" lift and 35s.
So,how big can you go before stuff starts going South?

Well problems on my last 2 trucks start about a week after you buy them. My 06 was junk and my new 07 6.7 is giving trouble to. I am so scared right now about my truck that I cant trust it to even drive it. I am sorry this dont answer your ?? but I had to tell someone.

You can put a 4" lift & 35's on your truck and not realy have any issues at all. It realy all depends on how you treat it. If you want to go bajahing around in a field or jump over train tracks, yea your going to have a thinner wallet. Drive the truck like you would anyother day and things will be fine.
I've got a little over 30k miles on my 4" lift & 35's. I have not had one occuring issue due to over stressing, premature wear of parts or anything. And the lift I have is not a top choice kit, it's your average cookie cuttuer block lift. My steering is tight, my ball joints are great at 87k miles, I do not need to replace my axels or anything mentioned above. My tranny is a little weak(thats from stacking boxes though). Besides that no problems have occured as of yet(knock on wood)

Their are down sides to everything though. Buying 35" tires are not cheap, you do loose some fuel mileage, power also goes with that. Ride quality isn't the best unless you get your self a real top choice lift kit. Components will wear faster but it's not like you install the lift and start breaking things right away under normal use.
If you like the way a lifted truck looks don't hesitate, if you do the lift you will never look at your truck again the same. And that's in a good way. I can't realy go anywhere without someone googling my truck, it always makes for a good day.

would have but no 6 speed 5.9s left. There are alot of things great about the 6.7 but that emission stuff is very crapy for me. I use my truck to work with and its in regen all the time. I dont drive it unless I need it to work with. I have had it since June and only have 4k on it. I have had so much bad luck with Dodge the last 2 years that I will not buy another one. I would trade tomorrow if I could but in my 06 screw over I am flip floped on my 07.
with your g56 you will really like what 35's do to your highway rpm's- i know i did. if you want 4" knock yourself out- it'll make your truck look totally different, not too expensive, and can still use your truck like you did before.
Yeah, i'm with nate-03 D that you won't look at your truck the same after a lift and some nice wheels and tires, and ALL that stuff breaking, it's going to happen but if you drive it normal you shouldn't break your wallet sooner then later.
I've got about 30k on some 325 Nittos (33x13.50s) with just a leveling kit but all my tie-rods, tie-rod ends, and ball-joints are still in great shape. Same goes for my tranny and rear differential according to my shade-tree mechanic (who happens to be a Cummins tech for a local dealership).
I've always driven lifted trucks (4 of them) and only had issues with 1 truck which was my 1st truck (Chevy 1/2 ton Z71). The truck had over 130k on it and the front-end parts were already heading south when I put lift/tires on which, in turn, caused the parts to go ahead and COMPLETELY wear out. Also wore out my $250/each tires along the way....but thats another story...
If you're not going to be mud-bogging every weekend or bouncing around in a field 7-days a week....you should be fine....
