Amsoil AME 15w-40 Diesel & Marine is better IMO. Higher TBN and CI+4 rating which is all you need for a 5.9. Good for -44 F too.

I'm gonna run the rotella 15-40 for now. I'll switch to synthetic when I change it in the springtime. I'll be able to afford it then. Gonna run with Mobile 1 synthetic when I make the change.

I run Co-op DMO 0W-40 synthetic year round in everything. It is an excellent quality oil, easy to get locally, and it's cheap. I've got nearly 400k (the last 300k on the DMO) on my 95 with this oil and it purrs. The '06, bobcat, and tractor has had nothing but DMO since new.

Between both of my Cummins I have over 700,000 miles on Delo 15w40. I see no reason to change. Rotella and Delvac gave me lower oil presure readings in the 91 so I have not used either in the 06.

Delo 15w40 here too. Never an issue for me. My FIL ran it in his CTD hot shot rig and put several hundred thousand miles on it. He did eat many 5th gear nuts, then had someone good build him a 5 speed that wouldn't break. Then after getting towed home from the first outing after the new trans, he had to get the same guy to build a rear end that would hold the new 5 speed and CTD combo. Other than that, it was a perfect truck.

I have run everything from Rotella, VPB, John Deere, Amsoil...you name it I have pretty much run it. Currently I have Castrol Hypuron in it. Good to -42*, synthetic blend and priced between dino and most synthetics...good compromise to me.

I was running MOBIL Delo 400 with good results, but have not been able to find it in WW the last two changes so I switched to DELO 1300.
I also switched to BOSCH filters as the stores around here stopped carring the Mobil ! filters for the truck.
I just sent in an oil sample to BS with 9000+ miles and got the best report ever back from them at just over 100k on the engine.
They suggested going to 11k this time.
I do run an OilGuard filter as well.
Winter time I add a QT of Rotella 5w-40 syn to get her flowing a bit better.

Maybe you know this but I would not run synthetic until you have seated the rings well (25,000 miles). As for running oil, I run Rotella Synthetic 5-40w. Oil analysis from Blackstone labs are very positive on the TBN rating around 10,000 mile intervals for my truck. Oil is really a personal choice.

Delvac with fleetguard filters every 5K, unless I want that "swamp monster lives in my back seat smell" then I will run Rotela for a cycle...
