what is going on here?

i had an appointment for my trans recall 2 weeks in advance and they said "woops we forgot to order the part"... i can't really tell what is going on here. i'm afraid that the trans cooler cracked like they said it was going to. the thing is the cooler lines are dry, the behind-the-engine cooler is dry. there is oil all over the starter (as seen in pic). i dunno what kind of oil it is though. any guesses here?

As far as what kind of oil, I dunno. How's the power steering level?

Try putting a drop of it on a white napkin or paper towel. ATF will show up red, motor oil will be black.

Doesn't look much like ATF.

Maybe a Valve Cover Gasket? I'd need a few more pictures to be of much more help.

Looks like fuel to me, but you would smell that, the color is not trans.

To me it looks like coolant.

Is your overflow bottle low or empty?

As I looked at the picture again, it looks more like fuel...

After the truck has been parked a couple hours, does some of it eveaporate? Does the liquid repel water? How is your MPG? Is your Coolant level good? Is your water temp fluctuating or does your truck heat up real quick?

Its definitely not fuel. It smells like engine oil and is pretty brown and greasy on a napikin. Coolant is low but still above the minimum level. It's splattered all over my control arms and such as of right now and doesn't evaporate. All of my fluid levels are OK though. I'll have to get on a creeper or get it up on a lift to really check it out. I didn't want to get too dirty because I'm on the road here haha. Thanks for the input.
