Just do a search in second or third gen forums and you'll have hours of reading. Believe it or not, this topic tends to ruffle a few feathers.

aaaaaah.. the daily question... We should have a daily grind post... it would always be the age old question of OIL.....

Rotella T, Rotella syn., Valvoline, Valvoline extreme syn. Big blue, Royal Purple, AMSOIL syn., MOPAR (Valvoline heavy duty dino, "cummins uses it"), Mobil1 truck/suv syn., Delvac 1 (same thing as mobil 1 truck/suv, delvac 1300 dino.....

soon to have a specal Iraq silver label with Bush and Company on it... roomers has it, it is really Saudi stuff from the black market.. untaxed but high quility PAO stock...

yes it is true this subject is like domocrates and republicans debating on war issues...

ps: top 3 seem to be AMSOIL, MOBIL 1 truck/SUV, pick the 3rd... they all fall in here...

I like Delo for the following reason...

When the GMC in my sig had about 30,000 miles, it got an oil leak in the line that took the oil to the oil radiator. (I was doing all the oil changes on it and using Delo up to this point) The leak looked pretty slow but I decided to take it to the local GMC agency and get it fixed. I got the truck back and later that day when I was doing some city driving, I looked at the oil pressure gauge and it said ZERO! I pulled into the closest parking lot and turned off the engine.

Looking under the truck, it was easy to see that all the oil had come out suddenly and it was now a coating for all the parts in the front end. The next day I used a different vehicle and retraced my route. I found a big dark spot on the street and found it was about a mile from that point to where I turned the truck off.

So, the point of all this is at 70,000 miles, the same truck (and same engine) are doing great with no knocking and no felt loss of power. I think the Delo had something to do with the preservation of my engine!

bobistheoilguy has a forum for the real oil geeks. Delo seems to be acknowledged as perhaps having the best base stock and delvac 1300 as the best additive package, but the new Delo seems to be pretty good too. Delvac 1 / Mobil 1 T&S seem to be no brainers for synthetic, Amsoil getting good marks too. I like a blend of Delvac 1300 and Mobil 1 T&S.
