Well I'm in a pickle!!!

Couple of days ago I noticed a puddle of tranny fluid under the truck, look up under the truck and the whole underside is covered in tranny fluid from the radiator on back. I tracked the source down and it looks like the transmission oil cooler part number 52028915AC(off the part itself) is leaking at the top right corner. Its leaking at a pretty good rate and is not effectively cooling the transmission.

So here's the problem.....NO one has the part its on national backorder approx 4-6 weeks All of the local dodge dealerships I've called along with Dodge parts direct online all say the same thing.

Any solutions? Aftermarket?

Man when it rains it pours!

you can put a aftermarket trans cooler in it, ats makes a couple with electric fans for around 200 bucks, probably cheaper than the dodge oem and cools better

If its an 04.5, it should still be under warranty if you're not over on mileage. But yes, get an aftermarket one so you can still drive it. I've seen an 06 that was leaking in the exact same place.

Not sure the ones ATS offers will work in place of the OE one behind the intercooler. Need to find something that is aftermarket that will fit in behind the intercooler in place of the stock one...or just another stock one if I can find one somewhere.

I'll bet a good radiator shop could repair it.

Do a temp patch on the leak with a short hose and clamp. unless it's in an elbow. Split the hose, place it over the leak, tighten clamp around it.

I can see the area where the leak is in the upper right corner, but dont know the extent of the damage till i get it apart on Friday. If I can't fix it with what I have on hand Friday I'll probably hit the salvage yards this weekend with my brother in law.

I'll post pics when I get it apart Friday.

clean it up real good and solder it..I used to have to do it to my old lawnmower tanks, they were a 3 piece design and would leak at the seams occasionally.

Here's the pic as promised...not much to see other than crap everywhere. I ran the truck for atleast 2 hrs hoping to show the leak, but it must be a slow enough leak that its not visible. Going to have to check out the junk yards next and see what I can find.

Try LKQ a national used parts supplier. look them up on Google. They will ship overnight. Good luck.
