Well I find myself in a new generation??

Hey guys I have just bought another ram, this one is a 03 3500 QC 4x4 with a NV5600 (my first dually and stick)
I have been reading for hours and cant find the fleetgaurd part #s for the oil and fuel filters. I still have 8-9 of the LF3959 I use on the 12v but I doubt they will be the same for the 03.
I also remember reading about a fuel tank vent mod or something but my searches came up dry, anyone know about this?

Congrats on the new ride. I found it with the search but had to read just a bit. See if this is what you're looking for. http://www.innertruck.com/ventkitinstructions/

Congrats on your purchase, I have same exact truck and love it.

Go to http://www.fleetfilter.com and order filters there, they have a Wix part locator so you can find what you need.
You can remove stock aribox and get a BHAF, it will work great.

If you want to replace transmission fluid with new type just be sure to overfill by 1 quart.

Finally, get a Smarty and enjoy the truck.

If you want to enjoy the quiet of your 3rd gen.,I'd stick with the stock airbox and a AFE PG7 drop in filter with the PSM drop tube or Home Depot equivalent. You've already got a great exhaust system. The vent mod kit will add 5-6 gallons inexpensively. Nice year of truck you scored.

Thanks guys
This ones going to stay reasonably stock
I was thinking a new air box or mod/ exhaust and a smarty
If I want to go fast I can just roll out the 12v in my sig
Any other mods that these 3rd gens like?

Since I use mine for work I want to keep it as close to stock as I can. A Smarty would be plenty enough, heck the level 9 with REVO can give out up to 170hp .

Good flow intake, basic gauge (s), a Smarty, and a couple other small tricks is all you need from this. It's got plenty of power by itself.

Hey ratsun.........your stock of oil filters should work fine. I use LF16035 Fleetguard Statapore oil filters. I believe the only difference is the fluted end on the newer ones. But you should be able to use the others on your newer truck. The filter itself is fine.

Here is a good place to buy filters. http://www.genosgarage.com/products.asp?dept=99

You're welcome sir. Opening the exhaust to 4" tip to tail and a Smarty will really wake up the truck. I was amazed when I got mine. I run on SW3 just about all the time, only ever tried 5 once. There's more there than the stock clutch could begin to handle if you romp on it.

the 03's get great mileage keep it around 1700 rpm.

my stock clutch took smarty 4.11 sw #7 no problems till 65k miles.

if i had it to do over again.....i have opted to stay int he 450hp range i picked my clutch etc around that idea..... and it has proved adequate, actually more than adequate with loads up to 16k-20k lbs behind my truck on grades of 8% or better close to 65m mph comfortably .... occassional 55-60 max speed but no sloutch or lag . so heres my thoughts on an 03 staying around 400-450hp

Smarty. 595
Sumitt 4" exhaust pieces 259
donaldson 48" or 42" muffler $60-70
04.5-07 tubo modified with elbow and plug in place of electronic WG. im in that $300 with parts and its sitting on my shelf as a spar for either the 4bt or my truck. if i knew this back when i bought my S300 i wouldnt have spent all that money. the stock 04.5 -07 would have covered me into the mid 400's and low 500's without to many egt issues. my 62/12 is grreat for towing but the stock option would have been more affordable and offered similar performance in 95% of my situations
AFE intake was ok but a stock air box was WAY more tollerable.... mine had it on here with the truck when i bought it.
Put an exhaust brake on there a old pac brake before the pbrx can be had cheap i got mine for under $300 and wired it up myself follow the diagram it is super easy and the best upgrade i made. and yes i wired it into the computer too.
I had a Van Aken 3.1 when ibought the truck i regret selling it i like my smarty mileage without pressure for most driving ......but. on rare moments . also liked the selectability of a few extra ponies at the flip of a switch it was a fun combo that i sold regretably

what wasnt necessary but i did:
I did the ATS manifold which lowered my #4 cylinder temps by 100 degrees vs all other cylinders.
The CFM+ intake was a perk it did move my tirque curve around and may low boost driving a joy vs a work out. i definately would do it again....... with my bigger turbo, i dont regret it but had i not spent all the money on a s300 and instead on a 04.5-07 turbo it would have been easier to swallow the inake mod at the same time

Advise
don't allow the dealership to do the warranty in tank lift pump. i did and it's ok but i see one of these http://www.glacierdieselpower.com/de...dept_id=07-002 in my future...... but i want studs, springs, upgrade to a PBRX and some F1 40 hp injectors.... unfortunately i also own a 1979 cherokee chief that i am in th eprocess of converting to a bombed 4BTA as well i own a cj7 with a 401 and Fool's injection so my budget is pinned to three projects but for me the above combo has provent to be very reliable with few egt problems

tripple nickels rock. vent mod is easy and cheap glacier diesel under $60
