I know this has probably been posted before. But I am very curious as to why my truck has just started making a very annoying tick noise when I'm above 1800 RPM's. The noise seems to be coming from the back side of the engine, you can here it under the dash. I know it is cold. I have changed my oil and fuel filter, the ticking is still there and it sounds like it is getting worse. It only does this when I'm accelerating up a hill or getting under heavy accelerationabove 1800. But it is not always consistant but does it frequently. Any suggestions???

 

Run some Howe's Meaner Cleaner. Sounds like you have the same thing as my truck. The injector tips are getting carboned up because you are not working it hard enough. It fixed my truck right up within a 100 miles. I also got a bad tank of fuel from Murphy USA. That is when my truck started to have issues. I have since switch to a station that moves more fuel.

 

I Had A Ticking Sound That I Thought Was From The Engine And It Ended Up Being My U-joints In The Front End.

 

I had a vibration (sounding like a ticking noise) the day after I bought my truck. I took it back the next day and the dipstick was vibrating against the engine.

 

theres alot of noise with these truck so who knows
