Weird shift

Is this Normal?? This is my 1st diesel truck, and I am hooked.
Driving empty around town, when i start out from a complete stop something slows the truck down a little just before it shifts into second. Is this the converter locking up? (Auto trans.) I had a F150 before and you could hardly even feel it shift gears.

Also from 1st to 2nd its not a real firm shift like the rest of the gears.

Thanks, Guys

Depends on how hard you have your foot in it. It may be defueling a little bit before the shift. 1st to 2nd is alway quick in my truck without a load.

Well I thought defueling was my issue. But I just got back from the dealer. They claim 2 gear is having an issue on the autos. The bands may need adjusting. Start of slow and let it go into second then floor it. See how bad second slips. The 05's only came with a 3/36 warranty so don't pass it off so lightly

uh...the 2005 have the 7/70 also

2006 is when they got cheap and took the powertrain warranty away.

My friend has a 2005 auto, his will do it. Its the converter locking for a ever so slight second, and then unlocking.

There was a re-flash for the 2006 if i remember correctly, but not the 2005's.
