Unhappy Auto transmission, weird shift

While driving at 50 mph, transmission was shifting in and out of overdrive, on level ground. Checked transmission fluid, clear, (not milky) overfull with bubbles. Came home let sit for few hours cranked up in neutral, barely overfull no bubbles. Any ideas??

Also could be bad diodes in the alternator, dirty grounds.........several possibilities.

On a 92 I would want to see what your TPS voltage is at idle. I'm betting it's too low. Like to see .9 to 1 volt. Linkage may be worn. I often remove the TPS, push out the metal screw inserts (where the sensor bolts to the linkage), and drill the holes a little larger. This will give you some "adjustment" when reinstalling the TPS. Sometimes this won't work and you just have to replace it.

TPS was what it turned out to be on my 97, tried everything except drilling out the TPS and cleaning it with Contact Cleaner, figured it would screw up when it was -10 out.

Since you live in Fla., you might try doing a search here on cleaning your TPS, could save you some serious dough, and you don't have to worry about subzero weather if it doesn't work.
