Weird engine idle down 2004.5 ram???
I am awaiting my post to come on youtube and ill send or post the link to my truck idling down. (unless you can tell me how to post a link to my truck sound a different way?)
Anyways I noticed my truck idles down weird or in stages. compared it to a 2005 diesel ram and a duramax and they r both different than mine. Its like it idles down in stages . any1 encounter this? Rail pressure is at 7000psi roughly and at 16000 when i rev to 2000 rpm at idle.
On my fan shroud it says "retro chrysler ECM-20325253AK 10/31/06 Dealer Code 8978"
What does that mean exactly?

did u see the video? my buddy with a 2005 ram CTD hits fuel pedal and it backs off FAST to idle. mine goes in steps, turn volume up more on speaker when listening. its weird.
I dunno, mine backs off slow like that too its completely stock never had a programmer/chip on it, never thought anything of it. Figured its just how they are programmed to run. I'm sure someone with more useful knowledge will chime in here soon.
Mine does the same. I figure nothing to block air in or out such as a gassers throttle body flapper things so it freewheels down to idle, plus a lot of heavy parts in motion. Thats the same reason they have very little engine braking down hill.

I have this problem also. I have had my truck since new and it didn't do it untill recently. I also have a miss at normal idle. At high idle the truck will surge so bad the whole body of the truck shakes. Took it to the dealer as it's under warranty, they found some electronics in the tranny were bad, replaced them and sent me home. None of the symptoms disappeared! Could this be bad injectors??
I still have warranty 46K mi. What can I do or say to get my dealership to replace them. Any idea what causes this? Can running the truck with the bad injectors damage anything else. It's my daily driver.
