water pump

had my water pump replaced about 40k miles ago and now it's leaking again, about 99k on it now. anyone else having this happen? where is a good place to get a replacement, back to dodge or someone else? is this going to be an ongoing problem? thanks

Haven't had to replace mine, but I know Napa had good water pumps for the older year 24v so when the time comes I will probably just go there.

I carry a spare that I got from NAPA Auto Parts BUT my truck is still under warranty so if it goes and I can get to a dealership - they will fix it. My only uestion now is WILL the dealership honor the warranty with the way things are going at Chrysler? That;s also why I have the spare.

bought a replacement from NAPA, about $50. hopefully it will last longer. the replacement the dealership put on about 50k ago was leaking at the shaft seal. Wasn't too bad to do but it wasn't as easy as i thought. getting it out was tricky, bolts are 10mm and had to use a 1/4" drive ratchet with short extension and deep well socket. installing the new one took about 30 min.had to disconnect upper radiator hose from engine end and remove the 1/2" nut securing the top right of the shroud to get the pump out. only lost about 4 gal of coolant. some engineer decided that a wire loom would be great right where i needed to be. will let you guys know if it starts to fail again

yeah guys i think that it is **** poor design but i have had mine in for over 50K, ususally it is that seal that is against the block that is bad if it goes out befor 50k.

Still going strong @ 130k... Asked my mechanic if I should change it out, and be said to leave it be, they can go a long time, and are easy to replace...

Just had mine replaced under warranty by the dealer. No questions asked. I got 80K out of the original pump. The dealer said I saved about $400
When the next one goes, I will get it at NAPA for allot less and install it myself.

Easiest pump I have ever changed.. 2 bolts... Took longer to get the belt back on by myself...

Mine is in the shop now getting a new one. Just had it replaced in Jan 09. It took out the belt and tensioner. Had it done at dealer. They are replacing the belt and pump under their 12 month 12K mile warrenty on all their work, no cost to me. I have 108k on the truck now. They found it doing a multipoint check. Saw moisture at the shaft and the belt was starting to wear because of the bearing going bad and shifting belt placement.
