engine run-away,HELP!!

A friend of mine has an 04.5 that runs away when he decels. No codes except 2146(unknown code).
When the 1st injector harness is unplugged it doesn't run away, so we changed injectors 1 & 2, only to find out it was of no help.
Anyone have this issue or heard of this?
Thanks for your help in advance!!

Leaky injectors, I would rev min up in park or neutral and would take forever for it to idle down(like I still had my foot on the pedal). I had to replace all six.

We replaced 1 and 2 cause it only derevs normally when the 1st injector harness is unplugged.Taking the wire nuts offf 1 and 2 seperatley doesn't make any difference.Maked me wonder if it's from the harness back towards the ecm-injector driver?

Before you start throwing anymore injectors at it, start with checking the harness and get the computer reflashed.

Thanks, sounds like a good idea.Thankfully i have some low milage sticks that I let him try, so he don't have to pay the dealer to guess. We don't see any wiring problems yet though. Are you talking about a Chysler reflash or would Smarty do the job?

If I'm not mistaken, the harness are 123 456 so if you only changed/disconnected 2 injectors you may have missed the one that is hurting you. Try disconnecting #3 at the injector and see if that makes a difference.

when it runs away do you have the dr box turned on? cause the added rail pressure has to go somewhere and the injectors are the usual place. remove the dr box and see if it still does it. Rob

P2146-BANK 1 (CYLINDERS 1-3)
SHORTED HIGH OR LOW

Check your wires, where they come into the valve cover they have been known to be chaffed.

If he has a chip that connects to the injector harness he may have to check those connections as well. Some times they don't make full contact and cause a very simialr situation.

If his wiring checks out ok, then have his FCA checked and then the injection pump.

good luck and let us know.

It could have shorted out that injector, but more then likely it caused the ECM to go into limp mode.
If you have not done so yet, disconnect the batteries and leave the key on for a an hour or so.
Turn the key off and reconnect them. See if that helps.

You may also have a bad injection pump.
Is your friend experancing hard starts?
