water pump

My dad has the same truck as mine, only a 3500 Dually. He was taking (1) steer to the butcher yesterday w/ the gooseneck, truck got really hot. He stopped, I guess there was water all over the front of the engine. He put water in it, temp went down. He took it to the dealer, they think it's a water pump, but will know for sure later today.

Anyone else have one go bad?

I replaced mine at 104,667. Coolant was being pressured by the shaft seal behind the pump pulley and getting blown all over the engine compartment. New one from Cummins Southern Plains, a little time to install and all is well.

I had three go out on my 06 prior to 17,000 miles... Seems like a LOT of 06's had water pump problems!

If the service personnel can't plug an electronic diagnostic tool into the port chances are they will not find the problem even if the floor is covered with oil from a hole in the oil pan. Suggest you find a service guy over 50.
