Water Drain not Draining

Changed out the fuel filter today. Opened up the drain valve & nothing came out. Pulled filter, & filter canister full of fuel. Replaced filter, cranked up motor & opened up valve - only a tricke came out. What gives?

Also, when I pulled the filter from the cap, the plastic part of the filter that snaps into the cap stayed w/ the cap. It's like the filter came apart. Makes me wonder if it were coming apart for a while now.

Finally, what is the fuel flow thru the filter - does the fuel come in the center of the filter & get pushed to the OD or the other way around. Also, the fuel that stays in the bowl - will it be refiltered, or is it already filtered & on it's way to the CP3?

NOt sure why your canister didn't drain. Mine always do. I believe the fuel comes UP the stand pipe then OUT through the filter media. Any fuel left in the canister is UNFILTERED and headed for the CPS... I have never heard of it not draining...

I changed my fuel filter about 1 month ago. Opened the drain and nothing. Pulled the filter and all the sudden it started to come out. Don't know what it was, but nothing was in the canister.

Unscrew your fuel filter lead, break the suction in the housing, before you open the water drain, so it will flow when you do.

Are you talking about the filter cap? I thought that the water drain was supposed to drain even when you werent changing the filter?

I'm going to remove teh drain valve & clean it. Anyone have any directions for removing it? Does it seal w/ a gasket or o-ring. I'm thinking that I can reuse an o-ring, but where would I get another gasket?

Fuel flows through the filter from the outside to the inside...
