I think you can contest this up to a reasonable limit.
If that fails you can only take responsibility for it.
That would be the right thing to do.
I am not judging this too much, because I have made some mistakes too, but it is a classic American past time trying to get out from under the consequences of our actions.

My 2 cents.

I will say that I asked dealer to test my LP and they said even if it tested bad they will not change the voided warranty , because the box was on there. I did get the owner to set a meeting with the DM.
If your truck WAS stock and this had occurred, it wouldn't even have been a thought to the guys at DC to warranty it. O-ring failures are starting to happen and WILL increase gradually as we go into mid-summer. I imagine they're gonna go wide-open-throttle around October and after that. The reason for the failures is tied to the ultra-low-sulfur-diesel (ULSD) that's starting to make it's way into the stream of commerce. AND, before anybody jumps the gun and says "well, I'll just go get some lubricity additive to make up for the low sulfur", BE WARNED, this is a growing concern even among the oil company engineers. Lubricity levels are NOT responsible for o-ring failures. The process used to lower sulfur levels is the real culprit. Apparently, the process (hydrotreatment) by which the sulfur is lowered to it's new, lower levels is also lowering the levels of the aromatic content in the diesel. The aromatics level in diesel fuel has a direct affect on o-rings when it is changed. A change from a high aromatic fuel to one with a lower content can cause o-rings to shrink. This is the root of the problem. Older seals sometimes don't have the elasticity to adapt and leakage occurs. But the problem is not exclusive to any particular engine type, fuel type, region of the country, or age of vehicle. Old ones are more susceptible but new ones are already having problems too. O-rings at the injectors and the injector pump have been noted as having the highest vulnerability. I know that technical bulletins from Chevron point to a growing concern and their only remedy is to tell manufacturers to suggest an o-ring replacement. I haven't check with Cummins yet, but it looks like Chevron has told manufacturers to recommend a maintenance schedule for nitrile rubber (Buna N) seals and their replacement. Apparently, some carriers and areas of the country are already starting to phase-in the new, lower sulfur diesel because they get tax credits if they go to the new requirement before the deadline. Sorry about the long explanation but I don't think even Dodge realizes the severity of this problem. If they do, they're not gonna issue a TSB cause it's not an engine or fuel system fault on their part. The fuel is being changed mid-stream. And they'll make plenty of $$$ replacing out of warranty CP3's til they're blue in the face. Hmmm, kinda rings of the VP44, lift pump nightmare of Daimler/Chrysler legend.
Hope this enlightened the curious.

Even with out any after market products installed on my truck it is hard enough to get the delaerships and DC on line to fix known problems. They always say with in spec or that isnt a problem. That is untill the part actually breaks. Yet I have been from one side of Canada to the other. The common denominator that I have found is.....
VERY FEW DEALERSHIPS HAVE FULLY TRAINED AND QUALIFIED PEOPLE to work on the 3rd GENs. The end result is a lack of proper knowledge of the equipment they are working on. And that lack of knowledge is dangerous and expensive to us the owners. Some one will chime in and take offence to what I have said above because they work for a dealer and they know what they are doing. You are the small minute manority. Take it from me whom has had almost every frigging TSB and Recall on my truck. Write lots of letters and **** off DC untill they actually do their job. And then force their stores to do their's.
Your job is buy the truck and dont abuse it, maintain your proper maintence and if you add products that are not factory and you have a failure make sure that DC has a clear picture of the actual problem, and inform them that due to your gauges installed or your Banks, Edge installed it did not cause the problem with the defrost door or the door moulding. Nor did it cause problems with their crappy injectors or even worse lift pump.
You may have shortened the life of the CP3 or the tranny but it should have lasted past the warrenty period any ways.
Bottom line is to many untrained Factory authorized 1st year apprentices whom have not a clue as to how to use the DRB scan tools, and to add further insult have a very limited knowldege of the actual product. The end result is crappy service and even worse fixes to the most minor problems.

Ok this is the whole thing,Say for example I was the one who came on here and said that my warranty had been voided due to an Edge box on my truck. I would be going through the same thing. Right or wrong? Me myself, no.1 would of taken it off before I took it in. No.2 I wouldn't try to argue with them.No.3 I would have them install another one and pay for it. Like I said earlier I am not here to argue or gripe this is just my .02. Thanx Cin
Hahahaha..........
I'm with all the "You Play - You Pay" guys here.
Read this here, read that here, some nonsense, some acceptable.
Kinda reminds me of that idget up Canada who double stacked his '05 Quad Cab 4X4 Dually.
Remember him?? (??name??)
First he came on here asking how to improve his "hole shot" take offs. Something like he was revving it up to 4000RPMs in N and then dumping it in drive and had problems getting traction with all 6 tires on the ground spinning.
He asked for advice, and then a few weeks later what was he here whining about???
Melted down his whole lower drivetrain!!
Remember that!!! Hahahahahaha.......................
No sympathy here.
As a matter of fact - 170,000 miles on my 2004 now and never - never been in shop for anything. It's still a turd Dodge, but that cummins is reliable as hell if people would just leave it the hell alone!!!

Question ?? has a stock cummins ever have a fuel injector failure, has anybody with a stock 2005 cummins ever blow a intercooler (the plastic sides) any stock cummins have a transmission failure?? How about the famous vibration problums from the rear?? Any body have any u-joint problums on your stock cummins??
All I am getting at is stock trucks do ocassionaly have some of these problums and more. And since these problums can be in stock trucks I feel that their should be warranty for mod trucks for these same things because they could have failed if the truck was stock anyways. I agree that a certain point the truck owner should take responsibility for his mods but I feel that the firemans truck should be warrantied because this same problum can occure in a stock truck. You guys that say you play you pay well thats your opinion and thats Ok. I believe dodge has to prove the mod caused the breakdown, How can they do that when a stock truck can and does have the same breakdowns?? IF your talking melted pistons burnt valves. and this has never happened to a stock truck then I would agree no warranty!!

I Am My Own Warranty Station.
When I started adding mods to my truck, I became my own warranty station
When my Auto trans died a year ago, I ordered and had installed an upgraded replacement.
When my Injection pump croaked two days after this past Christmas, I ordered and installed a replacement.
Three Lift Pumps died, all replaced by me on my dime.
No removing stuff, no hiding boxes, no disconnecting batteries in an attempt to disguise the fact that I had installed equipment that put the output of the drivetrain above the factory settings in order to try to have someone else pay the bill.
It's called personal responsibility.
Now @ 89,000 miles.
Only time the truck was in the dealer, was to get the roof repainted after a branch fell on it two years ago.
Let's say you built something for a living, if I bought that product that you designed, then added someone else's product that took it outside of your designed parameters and it broke,.....would YOU honor the factory warranty?
As for the other contributors to this thread, keep it civil.
Play nice.

I set a benchmark of 25,000 miles before ANY bombing to give any problems that may happen to surface BEFORE any bombing . At the dealer today with 26,000
getting antsy for power ,just not ready to flush my 7/70,000 and 100,000 warranty down the crapper . I am not going to flame you but that's the biggest reason the new trucks no longer have the 7 /70,000 powertrain warranty .

The reason they canceled your warranty is when you put a box on your truck it throws a "nark" code that is a changing code that can’t be cleared and follows your VIN. I hate to hear that your warranty got canceled but in the end it is a direct result of your actions. So as many others have said you pay to play.
