they usually void the entire warranty if they do anything because they know how these trucks can be treated

It turns out they voided the entire powertrain warranty when they voided the engine warranty. The tech says my fluid is burned, the transmission slips, and I need a transmission. I just looked at the fluid and its bright red and does not smell at all. I still think properly adjusting the throttle to transmission cable, and maybe adjusting the bands and putting in some new fluid would take care of it.

I'll either find a reputable tranny shop, or do it myself. I just don't have time to work on it right now.

Yeah, I still believe that many of the dealers have parts changers. The computer says change the alternator and that is all they know how to do. Guess the idea to fight Dodge first and then follow whatever that leads you to. Would not trust the local dealer you are dealing with at this point. Do you know of another dealer in your area? If not maybe someone you know & trust that can recomend a good tranny shop? And it still wouldn't hurt from what I've read in other posts here just spending the dime to call Gorrend Transmission (not sure of spelling) and see if he will talk you through whatever he thinks might be wrong at this time which will hopefully give you further and cheaper options than a total rebuild and stregthening. If you are running completely stock a standard tranny should be more than adequete.
