Question VERY strange EGT's

I have just gone over 11K miles. All of the sudden my EGT's come down as fast as they go up. I live Phoenix. We are at 113 degrees today! Before when I would get anywhere I would sit for 3 or 4 min. and wait for the temp to come down to 300. Now it only takes 10-15 seconds. Whats going on here? Is this something that changes with millage? I checked my probe fittings. All tight. No vacume or turbo or exauhst leaks. The truck still gets it on. No noises, nothing.

I turn my A/C off too but it doesn't make the EGT drop like Lathe Guy is implying. It still takes a while but then again, I'm always pulling a trailer.

low egt

I got the same thing. After about 22,000 miles I noticed that my running egt was about 200 lower than I recalled so started paying attention to it. At idle it dropped below 200. Runnin at highway speeds where it had been 550-650 it dropped to under 400 up to 450. Previously when towing long passes with a 9,000 lb tt it read up to 900 (these are post turbo). Now with a 13,000 lb 5er it won't hit 750 on the same mountain pass. I asked and called BD ( I have their x monitor). I even sent it in for calibration and they said it was ok. I like low temps but don't want a melt down either...

Maybe the probe is fried, I dont think the a/c off would take 3 minutes off cool down time

Probe looks great. Just a little soot.

egt temps

I replaced the prob, didn't change. For the first several thousand miles I could hit 700 on the highway(post turbo) not towing and now I barely hit 700 going over the pass with 13,000 lbs.

It was 88 degrees this morning and I'm idling at '0', but I can still hit 1400 quickly if I'm not paying attention.

What's going on?

Well I just got off the phone with the gage Mfg. (Danin - DiPricol) they said I melted the gage and the connector! They are replacing it for free. I guess I need to use the sun shade.
