YES, plug in back in and the check engine light goes out after a couple (four) turns of the key

I have a 2011 and unplugged it. TERRIBLE IDEA. Truck ran like garbage and got terrible gas mileage despite what I have read. Plugged it back in and after several starts the light went out. Also, from what I was told by one of the very smart Diesel companies, I should not unplug just get a tuner that turns off the EGR system and do the deletes. The only reason I even tried to unplug is because I thought I could get a couple more miles to the gallon. That was not the case. But, since it does not hurt anything, you could try and maybe get better results than I did.

I tried it, was so simple to unplug & I saw an increase of 2.5 to 3 mpg, according to the on board computer.

I don't know if it was related, but shortly after plugging it back in and the check engine light went off, the oil change message appeared, had the oil changed and the were unable to clear the message & had to replace the "cluster" which is apparently a computer system in the truck. Not sure if the un plugging was related to the computer failure or not.

My digital computer was showing an similar improvement in gas mileage, but that was not the case. It was way off, reading 16.8mpg on an entire tank with a hand calculation of 12mpg. As far as the cluster needing to be replaced, I doubt it was tied to unplugging the EGR.
