Unknown problem... any ideas?
If you have them put the greasable prescision ones in, then no. I would do these joints ALLLLLL day long for that kind of cash! Man! I just don't charge enough I guess. Not saying you got ripped off or anything, depends on the fair market labor prices around you. When you say "leaking" was the axle seal leaking, or the u-joint caps?
It cost me 600 at dealer to change u joins. You didnt get ripped off. It looks like a pain to do in the driveway. I bought greasable ones but dealer said they can only install original parts.
Last set I did, using the wheel stud trick, took me about 2.5 hrs to do both sides. That was not "busting my hump " either. Truck had 138k on the clock and had never been apart before.( good and tight!)
Dealer would only install their parts? , or wouldn't let you carry in parts? They should have been able to get the joints (greasable) from their local supplier. Oh well, just would highly consider it next time.

My advice is to replace the AAM joints with Spicer NON greasable joints. I'm not a big fan of greasable joints at all. The non greasable joints have a much superior seal for keeping water out of the joint, and yes, you can add grease to a greasable joint any time you want to, but who's to say the grease is getting into ALL the caps? Quite often you can pump grease into the joint only to have grease appear at only two or three caps.

Nope, just remove the C- clips on the inside of the yoke, and beat them out with a hammer. After I put them in and all the clips, I make sure the caps are at the outermost position by gently beating them like I was trying to remove them to put the c clip right against the yoke. Doing this also helps to make sure that all 4 caps recieve grease.
Anyone's else experience this problem truck almost new and this is exactly the symptom I am experiencing just want to make sure it could not be something else than the u-joint .
