Ujoints maybe?

How do you know when a ujoint is going? Im getting a vibration that starts around 65-70 and i only get it under load (accelerating or holding speed). My first thought was the tires but it stops when i let off the pedal. So im thinking ujoint.

windows down driving along a concrete highway barrier you should be able to hear the joints clicking if they are indeed shot. vibration could be a sign too, but mine definitely clicked

I am having some issues also that I think may be u-joints. I have picked up a vibration or shutter right on take off. Only does it for a second or two from maybe 2-10 mph. I also feel a little bit of a pulsing vibration at highway speeds. I know that the pulsing at highway speed is probably the u-joints, but my concern is the simmy, shuttery, vibration feeling on take-off. Is this u-joint failure, or is this my tranny about to puke?

I had a u-joint totally crap out on me. It pulsated alot during take off then would smooth out. Shake all of your drives shafts, you'll find it.

The cruising a 65-70 under load is a typical dodge trait. About half of us have it. Look it up on here. I call it a shimmy... feel like a humming sort of...

I had the same thing happen, but opposite, it would vibrate if I let out a little and coasted, and stop if I started accelerating again...
Ended up replacing both Ujoints on the rear driveshaft, problem solved. The rear-most U-joint on mine was pretty trashed, and I replaced the front one shortly there after for piece of mind.

You might also look to see if there is a grease line on the bed above the Ujoints. I had one and took it into the dealer and got the "driveline angle" excuse. Drove another 5,000 miles and then the boot on the Ujoint was missing so then they changed out the Ujoint under warranty (I was under 35,000 miles at the time).
