Turbo burning oil?

Hey guys 05 24v 231k have been experiencing oil consumption for awhile now but just recently realized my turbo has too much play horizontally and vertically. No oil on cold side apparent and do not know for sure if its on the hot side. My question is the truck has almost no blowby out of the oil cap or breather although i eat about 3-3.5 quarts between 7500 mile oil changes...can a wore out turbo burn that oil out the exhaust and not see any signs? And can a wore out turbo simulate blowby symptoms?
