Do you have a copy of this bulletin you can either post or email?. If you can email it to gord.galloway at gmail.com

If it seems like maybe a new flash for the older version then I am very, very interested in this, it however sounds more like revised diagnostic procedures for the listed symptoms and a flash may not be part of it. This is why I would like to see the rest of the bulletin if anyone has it.

Thanks

This is a different TSB that we are talking about here, I have already had that TSB (19-037-04) done but the white smoke has re-appeared, may be normal but if there iis a fix then I'm all ears, which is why this new bulletin is of interest...however it sounds more like a diagnostic guide then a flash?

Sorry guys I don't have any more info on this, I was just reviewing ALLDATA for any new T.S.B's and ran across this. I'am suprised nobody has heard of this , or had it done. According to the bulletin it's been out since 7-8-05

Next question who's going to be the lab rat?

As CRXsi said, it looks like a diagnostic guide not a TSB that would involve flashing your ECM (as in TSB 19-037-04).

BAD DSL:

In the most recent issue of the "Turbo Diesel Register" (Nov.05'-Jan 06') there is a short article about this problem (TSB) on page #111.

The man who posted it is John Holmes, a Service Writer at "Carson Dodge" in Las Vegas. John said in the article that their dealership has been seeing some problems with the 2005 injectors. He said the "symptoms" are hard starting, excessive cold start smoke and a rough idle. According to him the TSB (I think the same one you posted) is a "flash" which he said does not always fix the problem. He went on to say that they feel there may be a problem with the injectors themselves, possibly a design problem as "incorrect positioning in the head, incorrect depth into the head or possibly a problem with the software driving the multiple injections."

He went on to say that when their dealership calls the D/C "STAR Tech Line"
for help they get asked by D/C officials; "What's the closed throttle percentage?" He says that can range anywhere from 30%-50%. The "STAR" technicians then have been telling their technicians that "the customer is idling the vehicle too much, so just put some injector cleaner in the truck;
..............REQUEST FOR REPLACEMENT INJECTORS DENIED!" John says that "closed throttle doesn't equal idle time" (I agree) and goes on to give a good example of why that is not true. He finally says that owners of any 05's should use injector cleaner regularly for now.

I have personally heard of several 05's having bad injectors in bone stock trucks! I sure hope this isn't a big problem for you guys that have the newer trucks now!

Anyway, I thought you might want to know about this.
