Truck Died
Truck Died
Got a question. Was pulling 26 ft enclosed trailer with 8000 lb in it. Was in a tight spot at one of my customers had jumped a curb to get out. I had the steer tires turned to the right almost all the way and only the tire i had to jump the curb with was the drivers side steer. When I went over the curb it killed the engine. I was wondering if maybe some fluids didn't touch a sensor and it was a saftey thing or what. I just had the dash all taken out because dodge had to put in a new module for the vent system. anyway if anyone can help that would be great. Thanks
yes. its been fine ever since. i think and my buddy agrees, that with the wheel cranked hard over and low engine speed that maybe it just choked t out with the power steering pump and everything. either that or he said it could be a saftey deal like maybe the coolant sloshed away from a sensor and killed it. I have driven down some rough roads latey, hell even tried to recreate the deal and its been fine. maybe it was a fluke.
So it stalled out trying to go up a curb with a trailer? If this is the case, that sounds normal to me. Without the trailer you probably would have spun your tires, but the hitch weight probably had it grip enough to stall. With my 5th wheel, my truck will stall in 1st gear (no throtle)
I have heard of the same problems with Rangers. With the wheels at full lock and still putting pressure on the wheel can cause the pump to work harder and stop the engine at idle. I just didn't think it would happen with a Cummins.
