Angry Trouble with ABS module

I have a problem with my ABS module on my 2004 3500. I heard a high pitch noise then my Abs and brake dash light came on indicating a problem. I turned the engine off but I could hear the Abs module still making noise and getting hot. I pulled the fuse for the Abs out but the thing still kept running. I had to disconnect both batteries to get it to stop running.

Plan to take it to the dealer next week and hope it can be covered under the 7 yr 70,000 mile power train warranty.

Anyone else had a problem with the Abs module?

I had the same thing happen to my 04. I had 39K miles when it went out and it wasn't covered under warranty. Cost me ~$500 to replace the ABS module.

Mine also stayed running on my 04. Had to unplug the module. Had about 30k on it then. It was covered under warranty.

I found this topic was covered in March 2010, so I sent it off for rebuild today for $130, the steeler wanted about $500 just for the part. Its a snap to switch them out. Saved $370, thanks for the input.

"IMO forget the dealer and junkyard. Both will have the same problem as the bad one in your truck. Electronics contracted to the lowest bidder. There are a handful of iffy components, but the most common is a relay in the ABS control unit that sticks on, making the pump run continuously. If you unplug just the motor, the speedo will still work, the pump will not run, and the abs/brake lights will be on. The ABS won't work, but the normal brakes will.

I sent my box in to "Module Master" and they replaced the troublesome components with higher quality parts for... I think it was like $130. I'll dig up their website.

There ya go. http://www.modulemaster.com/en/Dodge/index.php Give them a call. They fixed me up.

Oh, and the control unit sits on top of the running motor ABS motor. it comes off with torx screws. Module Master says you can run with it removed, but I was sketched about getting stuff in there while it was off, so I waited to send the module in till I was pulling my transmission.

PS here's their phone # 888-892-0764"
