Transmission Temp Light

I was driving in to work today, 75mph, pretty flat terrain, no trailer in tow and I noticed for a quick second what appeared to be my Transmission Temp light flash. I could have swore this happened last week as well but I thought I was seeing things so I ignored it.
Has anyone else had this happen? I have the dreaded 47RE that everyone is talking about.

Re:Transmission Temp Light

There is a TSB that covers this issue:

http://dodgeram.info/tsb/2003/08-004-03.htm

Many users experience this problem, which can be corrected by the dealer if you choose to do so. My check gauges light flashes quickly sometimes on a cold day, but it's not worth the hassle of taking it to the dealer.

Hopefully this is all your problem is.

Re:Transmission Temp Light

I just read the TSB but #3 says on a manual transmission equipped vehicle. Does this hold true for my automatic as well?

Models: 2002-2003 (DR) Ram Pickup

Symptom/Condition:
Three conditions have been identified which may be caused by communication errors between the Electro Mechanical Instrument Cluster (MIC) and other electronic modules on the vehicle.

1. An intermittent false "Check Gauges" on diesel engine equipped vehicles.

2. An intermittent false chime and "Low Wash" indicator. A valid "Low Wash" indication will occur for at least a 30 second Interval. With this false condition, the chime will occur followed by the "Low Wash" indicator which will last for a half second or less.

3. A "Trans Temp" Indicator on a manual transmissions equipped vehicle

Re:Transmission Temp Light

I'm pretty sure some of the automatic folks have experienced it too. Maybe someone with an auto will chime in.

Re:Transmission Temp Light

I have an auto and have experienced it. But it was the "check gauges" light that flashed for a quick second.

For what it's worth my Brake/ABS lights used to come on for no reason while driving down the road. My Check Gauges light came on a few times as well. After I had the TSB performed on my truck, the Brake/ABS, and Check Gauges lights haven't come back on since (in a false manner, that is). There is a good possbility that this TSB will cure your Transmission Temp light coming on erroneously as well.

Yes it is the COMPUTER
Take it back and have them flash it ;D ;D. I had the same problem, it's all better now. I haven't seen it in 9 months.

Re:Transmission Temp Light

I think it is the computer and they can reflash to fix it. On my truck it was the low fuel light on when I had a full tank and then it would evently go off but it took 10 min for the gage to come up to full they refashed in it works now.
