transmission slipping
transmission slipping
We have an 04 3/4 ton 4x4 auto CTD. It has 12k miles. Today while driving with no load at about 10 mph the trans temp light came on. I had just started the truck for the day and had only driven a mile or so, so i figured the light was going haywire, as I figure it to be impossible to get hot that quick with no load. Anyway I drove it at slow speeds (in a pasture) for about 3 miles and then shut it off. A few hours after that I drove it 30 miles on the interstate (empty) and the tranny feels like it is slipping. It only does it when taking off or in the first two gears. It seems that the engine over revs and the truck acceleration does not match the rpms.
Thr truck is under warranty so it is going in to the dealer, but right now we are doing a lot of work and will be for about 1 more week. This truck is all we have to haul 4 guys around. What could be the problem, and do you think it can make it through another week, or should I get it in the shop ASAP.

I think we figured it out. There is a sensor of some sort on the bottom of the trans. A stick caught the wire and broke the sensor. It still is running. I am going to try and get the part and and fix it.
