transmission help please (48RE)
I am in need of a transmission rebuild........again. The dealership said they rebuilt it and it was like brand new but i had it slipping with only 3000 miles on it with nothing but exhaust and 35's. I know of a good shop in town but i want to know of some good upgrades for the 48RE. I wont have crazy power for a while but I want to crank my smarty up and have room to play with other things and have a transmission to back it up. Thanks guys

Time to call Goerand and have a chat with him. I see a triple disk TC in your future (among other things).
There is a lot of info on built up trannies around here. A search will give you hours of reading.
Why has yours failed twice now and what do you mean by "slipping"?

if you want to crank your smarty up you will need to spend some pretty good coin how much power are you looking for if its 500 plan on all the goodies and a billet input shaft if its more than that youll need an output
i hope your wallets deep because these trans aren't cheap

Ram,
That's not enough information! If your engine is stock except for an exhaust, the 48 will hold it unless it's broken. Slipping can be the TC lockup clutch if you are in OD and locked up. Or you might just be talking about second gear or you might just be refering to the TC and how they are not as tight as you might like. But, with stock power, the tranny is will hold the power unless broken. With a Smarty the stock lockup clutch will slip. So maybe the dealer needs to do some warrantee work on their repair. Or you are already turning up the power and expecting the stock lockup clutch to hold it. It won't.
More info is required than stepping on the skinny pedal.
