Transmission died! Need re-built

My transmission died and I hauled it home ( a long day) I would like to replace it with an "upscale" rebuilt. Any ideas??
I've talked to Goerend (1st choice) but they can't have one for me before the middle of July. Says reams about them but doesn't do me much good.
Called Sun Coast a bit pricy
DTT could have one for me in a couple of weeks. Still on the high end but I could live with it. A "couple of weeks" is still out there a ways as I need to get this back on the road.
I live near Laramie, but could haul it to Fort Collins or Cheyenne if I can coax it back on the trailer.
The down side is I'm towing with my friend's Ford and it's embarrassing to be seen in public.

Call Tim Barber at TRE Diesel. They are in Va Beach, but if you explain your problem he may be able to help you quick. Last but not least you won't find a better price or a better guy.

Thanks RT I did call Tim and he is a nice guy with a good price. Given the distance, time, shipping, and installation costs, I decided to go with ATS and free install. I can haul my truck down to their shop on Friday next week and pick it up the following Tuesday evening. for around the same price.
I'm getting their Stage 2 transmission and taking a PRW Platinum Series SFI-Rated Steel Flexplate down with me for them to install.

Hey so how has you ATS trans been? I am in need of a new trans but unlike yours, mine is still moving. I was gonna go with the DTT myself, especially for the price.

So I posted a thread on PBB about my tans and what I was gonna get from DTT. After many posts and much discussion one of the members posted up solid info of many nightmare problems with DTT stuff. Including contact info of shops that dropped them.

I called a local reputable shop today and started off playing the uniformed consumer. Just to see where he went with the conversation and to see if he was going to bull **** me. After talking to him for awhile and listening to what he had to say I determined that he was being legit, so I asked him about DTT.

He told me that they are horribly made transmissions, he was very animate about that, he then said he had several customers that I could speak to and see what they thought. He then went to mention DTT's only installer on the east coast and had many very bad things to say about them too.

Now this could have just been a ruse to bring business his way but combined with the info from PBB. I have really started to reconsider what I am going to do. I just might go with the Jasper upgraded one, though would love the ATS but I don't think I have the pocket for it.

Dr. I have only a few miles on it so far. We have pulled the horse trailer with it and it shifts solid. Once the TC locks up it is like a stick shift with no slippage with the trailer and up hill. The folks at ATS were good to work with and had it done in a day. I'm heading to Nevada next month and will really give it a workout. I did get the stage 2.

So your not running billet input shafts then?

Are you running extra power and how much weight do you tow? I told therm I run extra power but not crazy and occasionally pull 10k pounds and they said I should go stage 2 but thats near $8k installed out the door and I don't have a chance for that.

At the costs for the ATS I'm gonna give Goerend a call to check them.

WOW the price sure went up. Here is what I got the stage 2 early 2004 4wd

The price listed plus tax is what I paid installed. It may have been some sort of special but I sure would not have paid for install at that price.
I originally was going with the Goerend but they couldn't get me a transmission for 2 months and I couldn't wait that long. They could send me a rebuild kit with all their stuff but there are no good shops nearby to do the work for me.
Good luck with it.
