to transfer case or not...

hey guys.
I'm thinking on either trade my truck for a similar model, year, transmission but a 4x4 or resource all the related parts and convert my truck into a 4WD. of course the first question is to know who has a 2005-2007 dodge ram 2500 with a 5.9l, a 6 speed manual transmission, 4WD, with around 70-75K miles who might be interested in some kind of trade for a 2WD in similar conditions...
Other than that I would think this question has come up on this forum before. The questionaire is simple, the transfer case, is this the same for a auto and manual? I mean the bolt pattern and shaft spline?? I think they are but need to confirm before diving into buying a donor vehicle for this.

I do know that there is a lot of work involved. But I would be motivated to turn my truck into 4wd since I have not abused or modified it in any way.

so to wrap it up, * is there anybody with a 4wd manual for sale?
* transfer case bolt pattern and shaft spline info? what range of year share the same bolt pattern and shaft spline?

Aren't the front frame rails on 2wd and 4wd totally different? I don't see how a conversion could possibly be cheaper than trading trucks even with 100% of your labor on the conversion. Your VIN will always show it as 2wd and I think a conversion will be worth less than an original even if done right.

I know why you want 4wd. Been there myself. I got sick of getting stuck in grass at fairgrounds and such with 2wd diesel dually. Before the 2wd I had 4wd and now have 4wd. Just had to try it once, I guess. 2wd does ride better.

You may be right. I guess from the economical stand point this is more that getting a used 4wd instead.
I'm looking at a couple of trucks now.
the truck I had before was also a 4wd and when I bought this one I thought I would not use this for off-roading so 4wd was not needed. I didn't think that since the rubber pretty much stayed the same, the weight difference and specially the weight on the front axle would make this much difference.
