Need a new transfer case for a 03 2500 auto. mine is a 271D 272 Ratio assy. # 52105646AC Question is, will any 271D work from 03up? are they the same? found one from an 05 same 271D but diff assy.# does this matter or does it have to have the exact assy. # too? Can't find a source that answers this.

 

I think they are all the same.

 

As long as its a 271 and not the 273 (eletronic shift) they should all be the same, not certain though.

 

I stumbled across this thread while researching the part number 52105646AC for a friend. He has a couple of these transfercases--brand new--for sale (very legit). PM me if you're interested; I can provide details then.

 

The 4x4 light switch is different in the '03. The 4x4 will still work fine but in order to get the light working, you will need to take both cases apart and swap out the shift sectors.
