transfer case drain plug size and thread

changed my transfer case fluid a month ago. been noticing a little seepage through the bolt. so i drained it today to put a little pipe on the drain plug thread and noticed that a small section of thread on the transfer case is chipped! so my next thought/move was if the pipe dope did not stop the seepage. i could find something like a fumoto drain valve to install so i would not have to ever remove it. so anybody know the size and thread pitch of the drain plug? thanks..

I bet the pipe dope will seal it, if it doesn't I would just get a new plug from the dealer or take the old one along to a good hardware store and have them match it, don't see the point in an expensive valve as you hardly ever have to change the fluid in the transfer case.

You can source new plugs at your local dealership. The Mopar part number for the "oil fill plug" is 68001627AA.

You can also use 6-7 wraps of teflon tape. Old plumber's trick for stripped shower necks!

New drain plugs from the dealer are $1 each. These plugs also have a habit of seizing in the case. I had to buy a set of extractors after stripping one of these plugs last year.

the head to my oil fill plug had rounded out too, due to rust siezing up the threads

my shop had to heat it up and take a chisel to it to break the rust bind

substituted a bronze plug

1st genners overfill the transfer case by 1 1/2 quarts so this fill plug isn't really that useful, but I still wanted it to be removable
