Allen wrench size for the transfer case drain?

Any one know the hex wrench size of the drain on the transfer case? It is magnum sized. I want to change my fluid but don't know which size wrench to buy. Thanks for the help, Matt

Matt, I'm pretty positive it's a 3/8... I changed mine not too long ago at 70,000 and it was still bright red...

Yah. It's gargantuan. Mine was ever so slightly brown and even then I think it was just the shadows playing tricks on my eyes. It had 70k on it also but it had been used many a times.

Hmmm, Isn't a 10mm a good bit smaller? Eyeballing it, it appears much smaller. I figured it would be 17mm or more?

17mm is the drain plug size on the NV5600. Is the t-case the same?

I thought the T-case was just one of those stick-a-ratchet-in-and-unscrew kinda jobs...(where theres a square drive of 3/8" or 1/2")

It's big... but not a 'ratchet job'

I believe it is metric.... would not trust my memory in a million yrs to try and remember the size! I do remember it's the biggest in my metric set... which doesn't help you much.

Come on, somebody... go outside & measure it! I would if I had my tools with me... honest I would!

No it's a hex key screw and it is big. Fair question though since the oil pan is a 3/8 square ratchet drive plug. I do think you are right on the NV5600, I read the other day it was a 17mm.

I think my biggest is a 10mm and it wasn't even close. I even went to look at Harbor Freight the other day and their biggest was a 10mm. Figured I'd find the size before I went to Sears or elsewhere.
