trans service

I have a 04.5 with a 48re trans i want to service the trans. A guy told me i can drain the converter by taking out a drain plug. Has anyone heard of doing this and how much fluid?

As far as I know these trucks do not have a drain plug on the converter. As far as how much fluid...I can't help you there.

my 06 manual say 4qts service fill and 29pts to 33pts overhaul.

Will you be using Amsoil full synthetic? I found it for 7.50 per qt bottle? Im buying 24qts.

No drain plug on converter and has not been one for over thirty years. Talk about behind the times.
Normal drain and refill is generally 5 - 7 qts. If you loosen bolts on valve body, some more will drain out. Just use ATF+4 from Wally World and be done with it.
