Trans Oil Change

How many qts does my '05 Hvy duty Cummings with auto tranny hold when you drop the pan & filter. I changed today & from 4 1/2 qts to 6 the level did not change on the dip stick. It is just on the safe area at the bottom. My owners man. does not give the capacity for the tranny! I kept putting it in gear & was checking the level in neu. It didn't change either after I drove it!!?? Thanks

I believe I put in 7 qts when I dropped the pan the last time, but it was kind of low from the factory. A normal fill would probably be around 5 or 6. 7 qts put me right at the top of the safe mark on the dipstick, while idling in neutral after towing about 7k lbs for 20 miles.

On a side note, drop the "G". Cummins

Thanks guys. I am amazed that they couldn't put that info in the owners man. I guess they want you to take it to the dealer to have done. And spend 3 times the money!!!
