Trans fluid in radiator
i have an 06 2500 with about 70000 miles, last night the tranny started acting up. i stopped to check and the fluid was white and foamy and the coolant was pink and creamy. not good. we think its the tranny line heat exchanger. was wondering if anyones had this problem and if anyone knows if its covered by Cummins warranty??
Thanks
Thanks
yeah i have heard of this before i dont know about the warranty i would imagine so dont drive the truck otherwise your trans may be screwed if it already isnt i would get it to the dealer asap!
Its the heat exchanger, the trans is toast if you want to trust it. Coolant reacts badly with the clutch material and leaves sludge.
Unfortunately, I don't think warranty is goign to cover it. The Cummins warranty is on the engine not the drive train, that was 3 yr 35k and your past that.

If it were mine I would replace the exhanger once I determined it was in fact leaking, flush/clean/re-fill the cooling side and do at least a couple quick changes on the ATF with the cheapest +4 fluid I could find without even leaving the driveway. You might get lucky, depending on how long you ran it with coolant in the trans.
i drove it about 4 miles under 40 then onto the trailer. i'm gonna call the dealer tomorrow, but after looking at the warranty book, i don't think its covered either. the tranny is the biggest concern, guess i'll just try to flush it out and hope for the best. thanks
My son has a Neon that cracked the heat exchanger in the radiator. The transmission oil pressure is usually higher than the cooling system pressure. We replaced the radiator, flushed out the cooling system and drained and flushed the transmision. That was 30,000 mi ago. All is well.
