Tranny problem or not?
Tranny problem or not?
Truck in sig. I've been having a issue with what I originally thought was just a sticking accelerator pedal. The pedal has a sticking point right where it is positioned when you're running about 30 mph. Replaced the cable, but that wasn't the problem. Weird thing is it doesn't do it all the time.
The biggest issue I'm having is the truck wants to keep downshifting. At 30 mph or under it keeps downshifting on it's own, running around town at 1900 RPM is really annoying.
The trans kickdown cable moves freely, no visual damage to the cruise control cable. I disconnected the cruise control cable, that eliminated the sticking pedal, but it still acts goofy, downshifting and such, even more than before.
Anyone have any ideas?

Okay, I think I have it figured out. The throttle valve in the valve body is worn, causing the sticking of the pedal and all the associated problems. Sonnax makes a kit that addresses this problem, but if the bore for the throttle valve is damaged I need to rebuild the valve body. I'm waiting on a call from Goerend to check on a stock valve body, I can't afford to do a full rebuild yet.
Going to order the high pressure valve body from Goerends. May as well do it right, I don't want to have to replace it again if the tranny takes a dump down the road. With 278,XXX on it, I figure it could happen any time, just not soon I hope.
