tranny noise

i noticed this morning (i think its been doing it a few days) when i was driving into work a strange noise coming from the tranny, seemingly around the shifter area. it sounds like a light dragging noise (best i can describe). it does it while in gear driving or while idling in neutral. In neutral, if i push in the clutch pedal, the sounds takes about 1 second before fading to silence. also....when driving, if i completely let off the accelerator, i can hear kind of a click sound as the drivetrain goes slack.

any ideas? reason to be worried? i'm just barely in my 7/70 warranty.

TIA

My G56 is turning into quite the noisy thing too. Mine used to make some noise on deceleration (like an old school bus transmission) only and then it was not all the time. Now it does it on accel and decel most of the time. Since I only have 3/36 I am way out of warranty at 80K miles. If you take it in and get a diagnosis, please post the results.

cracked gearshift detent, wear on input shaft bearing. replaced input shaft, bearing, and detent. noise is still there, but way quieter than it was.....
