Tranny Filters and Fluid

Where do you all buy yours from? I'm thinking about changing out the nasty OEM stuff with better fluids...

The OEM Mopar+4 fluid is suppose to be pretty good stuff. But I prefer Amsoil trans fluid, which worked well in my previous '92 Dodge diesel and is currently in my 2004.5.

I like the filters from Napa. I picked up one from Auto Zone once because I was in a pinch and I thought it was cheap. The filter element was small compared to Napa's. And Napa's was identical to the Mopar filter, at a much lower price.

I just installed a Mag-Hytec deep pan on my truck a couple of month's ago. I got the new filter from Geno's and refilled with ATF+4 from Walmart. It took 9 quarts with the new pan.

I just had mine done and I used Amsoil and a Mopar filter from my local Dodge parts dept. as it was the same cost as Geno's after shipping was figured in. As for NAPA they told me they never heard of the 48 RE transmission as it was not listed in there books nor was the 47 but they did have a trans filter for the 545 that was used with the 4.7L gas engine

Thats because they don't list them in their computer by tranny type. You gotta ask for the thing by truck. Most parts people nowa days don't know jack without that computer in front of them. Anyways, I'm not too sure what the Napa part number for the 48Re is, but the NAPA part number for my 47RE is 1-8565. Net price is $24.97, but my (we have an account) price is $13.53.
