Tranny

Iv'e seen alot of talk about differant trannys. How can I find out what tranny is on my truck. its unchanged from the factory. 06 Bighorn 4x4 quad cab

G56 if its a manual.I bet your refering to some of the DIFFERANT REBUILDERS that hop up the 48re for more h.p. The only 4 speed automatic offered is the 48re.Then theres a fair amount of CUSTOM 48RE builders for high performance applications but its ALL the same basic unit.The 07.5 up are now a 68re in the trucks(6 speed)and the cab and chassis comes with a Asien(spelling)? 6 speed auto.

ok so the first number in 48re obviously correlates with the number of gears it has. whats the other number and letter denote?

4 - number of forward gears

8 - relative duty use based on a scale of 1 - 9

R - rear wheel drive

E - electronic shift management
