What kinda RPMs are ya turning and I'm assuming your locked out of O/D?
well I weighed in to get some corn the other day and I had my 25 foot goose neck and 2 ton of mineral on my trailer and I weighed in at 18200 so when I haul 12 ton of mineral I'm around 38000 gross it hauls well but I have to admit that there's some hills that slow me down to 40 mph lol but it gets the job done much better than my old 12 valve

How many miles on the truck?
Got a fuel pressure gauge? Lift pump may be going out.
2006...take it to the dealer...the motor AND fuel system is covered under the 100k warranty.

I've towed 12k+, and the weight of my truck on top of that - up 6% and 7% grades. I thought that the auto would struggle, but it down shifted, the RPMs shot up to 3k, I backed off the pedal just a bit and the engine settled in at 2500 RPM and pulled the entire hill just fine. I did get "stuck" once at the bottom of a steep grade where I could only start out at 35 MPH due to a sharp curve, and the truck could only manage 50 MPH until the ground leveled out. But I'm happy with the auto while towing, so far.
I think the other poster hit the nail on the head with those of us with with the R-48. The torque converter sucks and the valve body isn't far behind. I'm at 23500 lbs. combined, with a dually and 3:73s. And you can really hear the converter slipping and wasting HP around 20 to 40 mph. when your getting up to speed.
My friend usually pulls a 4 horse trailer (full). Says power is great, but MPG is down to around 8 MPG. Likes his old 99 for milage, but the 06 5,9 for power. He has begun cruising at 65 MPH instead of 85 +.
"Your trailer would be pushing the limits of any dually out there.
Bottom line: your truck can't pull the trailer very well because you're way over weight."
Do you mean to say that a SRW truck won't pull with a dually? Seems like it would be more a function of engine power, transmission / differential gearing and tire size than whether or not he had a couple of extra tires on the rear axle of his truck....assuming the tires he does have on his truck are up to the task at hand.
